I concur with the additional courses. How about adding a few more vitals? 1. parenting 2. community relationships/relating 3. critical thinking skills 4. emotional health and expression 5. spiritual skill of "Know Thyself" 6. Response Ability We've been tolerating under-educating of our children far too long. I've got more useful skill sets on the curriculum vitae, but I'm fading fast at this late hour. All To Love, I don't think these things should be taught in school. I personally think children today need less "school" and more parenting. Parents should be responsible for passing on these skills, values, ethics, etc instead of abdicating that responsibility to the (govt-run) public schools that only serve to churn out cogs. Even while I do think that a number of these things should be taught in school, I'll agree with Phatmommy--parenting needs and upgrade, too. Less theory and and writing, more hands on. How can you actually really learn without doing it for real. |
