B Rosen says:
While this may not be the miracle drug this article seems to make it out to be, it seems the this is something that deserves a lot more research.

The terrible thing is that I live in Edmonton and nobody knows about this great find. In fact I didn't hear anything about it, or even hear it on the evening news, at all; I found it through clipmarks!

Do a Google search and you will find that this drug is getting news and research. Look it up on Wikipedia and you will find that it has some serious potential side effects. It's certainly worth investigating, but needs research to find if it affects cancer in humans as well as it does in rats, and what doses affect cancer versus what doses produce the negative side effects.

this makes me happy

the adverse effects of it are not nearly as bad as what cancer can do...

Is this really true? Why hasn't it made the worldwide news?

I hope it's not just another "wishful thinking" type of cure. Cancer is so horrible!

This was covered on CTV news. They even interviewed the researcher.

Why am I just hearing about this?! And what could be a worse side-effect than dying? Unless it makes it more painful.

"The drug also has no patent."

Nail on the head. Why would a drug company invest tens of millions of dollars for a product they couldn't ultimately control? Quick answer: They won't.

It would be awesome if this were true and it is worth further study, but don't expect Big Pill to get excited. If the pharmaceutical companies can't profit from it, then it doesn't warrant further attention from them. Period. Sad but very true.

IMO you will never ever see a cancer cure. It would kill a huge industry.

Stupid question: why doesn't somebody patent the stupid thing, sell it to somebody, and get on with the research?

good question geeknoob: my guess is that a company cannot patent a naturally available 'thing' - like an extract from a plant. I haven't read up on this yet, just throwing my two cents in.

I never understood why Governments get involved in everything, but are not prepared to invest in research, development and marketing of medical drugs and avoid the pharmaceuticals rip-off.

Please, folks, before your hopes go wild, Google this topic rather than taking web chat for fact. Short version: promising but hyperbolically overstated in this clip. If it sounds too good to be true... If it was so simple... etc.

I agree with this thought.

It's a shame.

There are already people out there selling this stuff because, as the article states, It's easy to make and unpatented. Quality unknown. This site is selling it for cancer in animals.
