To many Europeans, the NATO alliance was created to deter the real
threat of Soviet aggression, not to supply foot soldiers for George
Bush's wars in the Muslim world.
Uh, that sounds about right.
Europeans increasingly ask why they need the U.S.-dominated military alliance,
While I don't think that an unreasonable comment, in light of these Russian developments, that view may change.
Putin vows 'arms race' response

In a nationally-televised speech, he condemned Nato's
expansion and the US plan to include Poland and the Czech Republic in a
missile defence shield.
It seems to me that what's old may become new again, and even with all of the newfound ...

Yeah, I agree. Although I still think we need to dismantle the MIC...won't likely happen, tho.

The dickheads we had running this country until last year hadn't even asked the US to give a decent explanation of what the plans were. They just signed on the dotted line and sent our people off as more cannon fodder.

I read of Gates calling the Germans "quitters," and insulting other NATO countries.

That doesn't sound like a good idea; nor diplomacy. The Bush Administration has been and will be remembered as one of the most disgraceful in all of USA history. Elections can't come soon enough.

NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) should have never gotten involved in Afghanistan in the first place. And so called 'coalition forces' in Iraq are just a charade.

Gates may be a mild-mannered replacement for Rummy but he's still just another Bushie tool of the neocon agenda.

It's a real shame...2 disastrous wars, both mismanaged, ill-advised and devastating to the innocent civilians (so-called collateral damage).
A karmic debt of massive proportions for the USA and it's "Leaders".
