TJColatrella says: This is what you get when a cabal like the Federalist Society eats away at our system of governance and Constitution from the inside... I to want to get these criminal terrorists potential murderers but this now creates a permanent change in our Bill of Rights and a dangerous precedent..! Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. -- Benjamin Franklin It annoys me that the debate is framed in such a way as to say,"non-americans are not protected by the constitution" That is not the point AT ALL. The constitution grants *and limits* powers of the government. Just saying someone is "not american" is really irrelevant when the real questions are, "what are the governments legitimate powers, how are they derived, and how will they be held in check?" I certainly never signed up for much of the bull-shit that is done in my name. Non Americans on American soil are protected by our Constitution and Bill of Rights but Americans outside of American boundaries always still had their rights as far as our nation was concerned, this was confirmed after Tom Paine criticized America while overseas and was in potentially big trouble but whereas our Rights are inalienable he still had his right to free speech even when abroad, thus inalienable was confirmed they are endowed upon us by our creator, thus we carry them with us and inalienable that is why this case breaks and or sets a dangerous new precedent... Now if we say something deemed inappropriate overseas or some other action without a warrant since we are not on Amer... What a shock? Non-Americans don't have American Rights? Let's go with a simple thought experiement. So do you have rights as a French citizen if you don't live in France, weren't born in France and don't live in France? No Frenchman would even think it. However, they will crucify any American who doesn't do what they think is correct. Colorado if you read this it says AMERICAN citizens do not have the protection of the Bill of rights when overseas..! Thus our rights are no longer inalienable..! Get it..? I didn't think so... |
