Interesting! And I would guess that it created a new emphasis on the Old Testament, preachers ever being more inclined to preach from the New. We are still emerging from the haze of it, and very few are the Christians who have a well-developed sense of what Jesus brings to an end of the O.T. - and likely, those things include the foundations of fundamentalism.
