egoldstein says: Over the next several days we'll continue adding some key additional features. We hope you all enjoy the new site. If you encounter any problems or have suggestions, please email us at support@clipmarks.com. A neat design and many new features increasing the usability. Happy birthday Clipmarks, way to go! Hurrah!!! as the beatles once said....'it's getting better all the time' love it! Congratulations! The only site (apart from google which is probably outside the scope of such considerations) that I use every day. hmdice: Did you utilize the ctrl+F5 keys that were suggested? This should clear your cache of the old features so the new can operate without issue. It might be a cause of the speed issue you're experiencing. I'm finding that it's actually screaming along. Although, I'm connected to the www via a cable connection. Okay, I took the initiative here, story digged. Positive: The new look is much nicer The top, up, down, and end buttons added to the clip pane Negative: The top, up, down, and end buttons removed from the center pane The left pane seems wasted. I would never use anything in it. One thing that I would like to see in that space is an All Clippers button that would pop up a list of all Clippers. I had some other ideas that I can't recall at the moment = = = = = An item that doesn't represent a change, but that I would like to see changed, is the vertical size of the clip window; it could easily be twice current size. Many clips would display completely without the need to scroll. Images would display better. Another change th... One other negative that I forgot to mention: it's slower for me too. I agree with Godfrey's comments; except for the up & down buttons; I prefer the scrollbar; it's faster imo. Another idea: bring back the related clippers & related tags on the left side. Also agree with the p(r)ops Not slower overhere ; But maybe I'm not noticing it on a 10Mbit cable connection.... From the negative above, I prefer mouse scrolling so I'm not missing the buttons; however, the left pane seems wasted if you're not using the menus (which is the case for me as well), but the width of the clips depends on your screen resolution, at 1280x1024, the site looks wonderful to my eyes. I love it all! Now, what I want is a Live Clippers box so I can see who is on now. In Vbulletin it allows you to see who is on and what they are viewing. Something like that would be great for comments because you could see what people are currently interested in. A live chat bar would be cool too. This could really enhance the useability of ClipMarks beyond archives. Turn it into a live resource for people looking for certain clips or subjects. It's lightning fast for me too! skwirl, I don't want people to see what I'm doing on the site, that's a bad idea. This comment section is better than any live chat window. Hey I have an idea. Perhaps it's interesting to use symbols for things that you clip just to make it better memorisable. Just like in some mind maps they use this to make it even more clear & to activate the creative side of the brain. Two clarifications: I didn't mean the buttons in mid pane to be "instead of" scrolling, rather "in addition to". Arifsali, notice that, as regards clip window size, I said vertical size should be increased. My error here exposes a problem Nice job everyone. I would also like a list of all clippers. Unless you have a user in My Clippers, they are impossible to find if they don't comment or post much. Perhaps we could have clippers show in the search function? I like Skwirl's suggestion of Live Clippers too. Just a list of clippers currently logged in. Thanks for the hard work team! Perhaps we could have clippers show in the search function? That would be of no help when you can't remember their name. I would also like to be able to scan through the list just to see who I have forgotten. While I don't think we could have a list of all clippers, we will definitely give it consideration. I think a search for clippers based on (partial) name and/or tags they have used is much more likely. Excellent job! I too would like a "Live Clippers" list of those clippers currently logged in. I have two concerns about the Live Clippers idea: 1) Some people may not want everyone knowing when they're on. I suppose we can deal with this one by making it an opt-in thing. 2) I worry that it will often be incorrect because it will show people being on the site who may just have the site open but not be around. I suppose it could probably indicate how long it's been that they've been idle (just like an instant messenget). I guess i'd say that if those 2 things were worked out i'd be in favor of it. While I don't think we could have a list of all clippers, we willPerhaps we could narrow the list down to only clippers that have clipped publicly and/or commented on a clip. I'm sure there are many clippers that just clip privately and don't comment or pop. One change I noticed that I think was for the worse was in a custom view, where "New Clips", "Latest Pops", and "Latest Comments" are all turned on, clips that are moved to the top because of a comment do not necessarily have a "Comment by <last commenter>" thing on the third line, it is usually "Pop by <last popper>" even if the last comment came after the last pop. Also, I agree with the sentiments expressed above that (a) the tag pane on the far left would not be missed if it was removed; and (b) a list of at least moderately involved clippers would be nice, but please don't make it one of those ranked lists. I've just noticed that we can no more add any tags to our "favorite tags" list. We still have the "old list" but the tags of the clip columns don't have the "+" sign to add them at the new design and interface. Or did I miss something? One change I noticed that I think was for the worse was in a custom view, where "New Clips", "Latest Pops", and "Latest Comments" are all turned on, clips that are moved to the top because of a comment do not necessarily have a "Comment by <last commenter>" thing on the third line, it is usually "Pop by <last popper>" even if the last comment came after the last pop.Annoying. The whole new emphasis on popping is. The issue with sorting is not something we did on purpose. I have fixed the problem and will be uploading it shortly. In the mean time, "keep your shirt on" as my parents would say! invictus, we actually got rid of that plus button in order to clean up the interface. I know it's not the same, but you can follow a tag by clicking the tag and then clicking the plus icon next to the title above the clip list. We will be adding a "Add Topic" menu link in the "My Topics" drop down in the very near future. Shirt on at time of comment, prior, and on-going until ripped off tonight as preplanned. OK, the 3rd line of the list now always shows the last action, not just last pop. Man, you are right on it. Sweet. Thanks. oooh, thanks djkraz! That was irritating me too. Yay! man.. this is good.. I'd begin to find that I hadn't time to sneak a quick look.. missed the page down feature.. was starting to get clunky and slow.. But now it looks like Clipmarks has been healed... Eric, pass my congrats on to those deserving.. you can follow a tag by clicking the tag and then clicking the plus icon next to the title above the clip list. Thanks Derek, I didn't notice it. One more thing: I miss the "my mix" feature of the previous interface. It was very useful to have the option for listing "my clips + my clippers + my tags". Any chance to bring it back? the "my mix" feature is coming soon...along with a bunch of other things, it should be back next week some time. |
