well, considering that my iPhone is jailbroken and running all manner if homebrew apps, the sdk comes out in a few days, and google android is a totally open platform, I'd say the creative Internet is far from dead

I agree It depends on what you read
between projects like miro open video and songbird open source music player and flock the social web browser which I'm using now and netvibes which I find great fun being creative on putting all my favourite most important internet content on one page
you just have to look at any stumbleupon users page to see the vast creative online possibilities there are
