So what we have to do is create necessary illusions and emotionally potent oversimplifications, so the ordinary folk don't get themselves into any trouble. The idea throughout is that the general population is plainly incompetent to make reasonable decisions. They won't know what to do, so it would be immoral to let them participate in public affairs. It would be like letting a three-year-old child play with a kitchen knife. The people who put forward these theories have their own illusions: namely, that decisions are made by "cool observers," the specialized class, the intelligent minority. In fact, the "cool observe... The slave class should not have ideas or opinions. I was again surprised during our last election at the number of struggling people who said they would vote for Howard ( thus for big business). Maybe it was a setup to encourage others to do the same. The poor believe this way because they cannot see the forest for the trees .The reason being is that the boot on their necks keeps them from seeing anything but the dirt in their face....If they don't kiss butt on the job,,they will HAVE no job.The system has a far tighter stranglehold on the working class mind/body/heart than is presently apparent. They are as the Palestinians being locked away,surrounded by walls,basic human needs such as food,electricity,housing being cut off, until they shrivel to dust. And this process of deprivation is picking up speed as we speak. No relief for Katrina victims.Immagrants hauled off in the night.Torture legalized...etc..etc...The list goes on.Vote for Kucinich. |
