gingembre says:
"Some Canadian producers, meanwhile, say they are seeing an increase in demand from U.S. buyers as U.S. health officials work to trace the source of the multi-state salmonella food poisoning outbreak.

“We've been getting lots of calls from U.S. buyers looking to purchase our tomatoes,” said Maureen Sheehan, the marketing director for B.C. Hot House Foods Inc. “They know our product is safe.”

Canadian retailers are also buying Canadian as they continue to stock tomatoes for their customers."

I know...it's hard to fathom how it happens. I love tomatoes, so the idea of them poisoning me is gut-wrenching.

At least this time it is a vegetable I won't miss. I like tomatoes cooked.

It came across the wire that Florida tomatoes have been cleared. I'm glad! I usually buy locally owned and the season is just arriving. No more red-colored sponges.

Just a blip but I read that it came from improper handling.

You can't beat a BLT with fat, juicy tomatoes and Lays Crunchy Chips! :~)

Mmmm, jatfla, that sounds good! I would love to have a bowl of ripe, juicy tomatoes right now. One of the best meals I have had the pleasure of consuming consisted of red, ripe, juicy tomatoes drizzled with olive oil, fresh mozzarella cheese and fresh crusty bread.
