I always had trouble with the whole ball of wax, and I think that it goes back to my very early (possibly even pre-school) days. In December, Jesus was born, and all the church readings were about his infancy, then BAM! Three months later hw was a grown man nailed to a tree. Of course I realize that I was too young to understand the gap in the apparent chronology, but it made me open to skepticism from the very start.
