Remember, this is not a valuation of the accuracy or truth of his commentary, it only reflects his market value as to number of listeners. I don't know that there has been any measure taken of the portion of his audience who tunes in simply to bleat derisively at the radio as he spews the lunacy he propagates. He has readily admitted that he is an entertainer and that is really what he does; he entertains the baying sheeple who are in need of affirmation for the opinions someone else has given them for the thinking they can't do themselves, or those who simply can't believe that such a bag of wind can carry on as long as he does. For any rational person he isn't really worth the price of th... If someone is willing to pay it, then he deserves it. I don't listen to Rush much but when I do I never hear anything but clear commentary, opinion, and humor. I am not a conservative but I think people like Rush have had some influence on me. It's hard to avoid the rationale needed to maintain a show for 3 hours a day, 5 days a week and for 20 some odd years. When you compare the respect of someone like Limbaugh has to those on Air America and the acidic hate that comes from them, it is no wonder that Rush appeals to everyday middle American Conservatives and moderates like myself. In truth I probably lean more liberal than moderate. Is that to suggest that you don't hear acidic hate from Rush? If so, you really aren't paying attention. I've never heard anything hateful from Limbaugh, not one single thing ever. He comes a little unglued sometimes but that is his style of showmanship. I started out not liking Limbaugh and I still do not like him personality-wise because he is just so danged arrogant it is gag-inducing. |
