I blogged on a topic that is further attributing this endarkenment period. It's about generations now growing up with no ethics or morals and no ability to "do the right thing" for fear of abandonment.

Use those candles to light a fire. We need to blaze; we need to lase.
How do we get past the dogma of superstition? These things are taught from earliest childhood and maintained even as adults. Facts, reason, logic, mean nothing to a truly hypnotized person.

I think that a cursory glance at the history of all religions will show that under their authentic teachings gather vast crowds of the superstitious and weak. For them the feelings of powerlessness and confusion are solved by a quick-fix adherence to a simplistic 'belief'. However, in a grossly irreligious world such as today's the rise of even absurd 'spiritual' yearning may be a healthy sign, and also many individuals go through the baby bit on their way to more mature wisdom.
