I clipped this comment because it is a perspective on the issue that I was not aware of: all sides deserve to be heard. If you would have read the opinion piece you might have learned this:

"It was apparently some Western wire service that mistranslated the phrase as 'wipe Israel off the map', which sounds rather more violent than calling for regime change. Since then, Iranian media working in English have themselves depended on that translation."

It is possible that Al-Jazeera's English language news service picked up the story from an English language wire service and were therefore working from a incorrect translation just as Iranian media mentioned above.
