Interesting take, no doubt, yet the question still remains why to believe in a supra-natural deity in the first place, especially if, as the author suggests :" The realm of God is simply beyond that which the human mind can know".
just wondering.
at any rate its an interesting clip Arisfali, thx
cheers

Thanks arisali for this very interesting clip. Although I am a very devout agnostic I have always admired Bishop Spong. IMO he has never been afraid to ask important questions, and its so refreshing to hear from a member of organized religion who simply reeks of integrity

wildcat, I don't know much, but perhaps this gives a practical and/or rational explanation of why we believe in supra-natural diety.

I have been receiving Bishop Spong's QAs for a while and I have yet to find a single statement of disagreement with him, odd thing is, I'm not even a Christian.

Thank you Arifsali, but that was not my point, the need for a religious belief is clearly an arisal of the evolutionary pressure concomitent with the arisal of the human mind (complexity). my point was refering to the apparent logical falacy in believing in a super/ supra natural deity to which
a-priori you cannot have any kind of access since it is (according to Bishop Spong) completly beyond that which the human mind can know.
( as for the clip you refered to, the so called fact of claiming paranormal experience is not an indication for a causation to believe in the above mentioned deity. the fact that certain or many facts of life cannot be explained implies only this, that they cannot ...

This life is a Test, and after it there is an eternal life.

Depending on our socres in the Test, our destinies will be in one of two places.

Busting the Evolution "myths"?

It sounds really ironic when you hear a religious person accusing a theory for being a "myth", while mentioning "creation", the oldest myth on earth, far before Yahveh religions were made up.

btw, Arif, thanks, I also liked the clip very much, though I mostly agree with Wildcat.

Invictus, are you everything came from nothing?

If not , then where did everything come from?

Or are we all a myth of of our imagination and we too do not exist???????????????????
