I'm lucky enough to occasionally become cognizant of the fact that I'm in a dream. It's an interesting feeling, and I find that if I get distracted, I lose control, but once in a while I can make things happen. It's very strange, scary, and exciting when it happens.

It has always fascinated me and I used to do a lot of lucid dreaming years ago. It was great to make it up as you went along and I agree, it can be all those things you mention... and exciting too!
