I have a different opinion, so his statement would make me either wrong or ignorant. Either/or conclusions don't make room for everyone. Either/or conclusions don't make room for everyone. It wasn't intended to make room for everyone. It was only intended to make room for Barrack Obama's position. Either YOU understand that or YOU do not. See? All men are mortal. Socrates is a man. Therefore, Socrates will die (or is mortal). Either that is true or it is not. It has nothing to do with making room for anyone else. What if neither is Obama's true position? Those 2 conclusions leave out many other possible truths based on my rationale, unlike the Socrates conclusion, which makes sense. So rather than saying "making room for anyone else", what about making room for another possibility. This is what I have trouble understanding from both the left and right. Most people are so sure they are right when judging others. And Brewton says either/or as if only one is right and no other could be right. Well, not to alarm you with"affect", but why not offer an alternate rationale, enlightened deductive logic, or a question that invokes skeptical inquiry rather than a cynical dismissal? You may say that either/or is not Obama's position, but show how that is the case within the framework of Black Liberation Theology. One of these must be true. Black Theology teaches that the White enemy must be destroyed and that a God that does not agree with Black Liberation Theology is a God that "must be killed". So, I would be interested in hearing what other position he could hold given the FACTS that we have. What if neither is Obama's true position?Given the framework of Black Liberation Theology suggest how this could be the case. I do read and accept that the origins of black liberation theology teaches that the white enemy must be destroyed. I do accept that Wright comes out of this tradition. When I listen to him speak, he says he believes in equality, not racism or destruction (who knows if he is lying, not me). I do accept that Obama went to his church for 20 years and heard sermons on black liberation from white bondage. It's just a stretch for me to believe that Obama hates white America and wants God to destory all white people. I also don't yet conclude that means he is then the "or" which is pandering to blacks. But if anyone could get me there, it would be you. I do see a scenario where the priveleged... It's just a stretch for me to believe that Obama hates white America and wants God to destory all white people.Well, I certainly would not put in such genocidal terms, if that is what you are getting at. I think the logical conclusion is that the premise in the article is correct and Obama does not have the best interests of America at heart. I believe Obama is a New-Age, Progressive, Fascist ( granted, fascist is a term very few understand but I use it because I do not base my words on the education, or lack thereof, of others) that seeks to mobilize society with Statist programs using Environmentalism and Social Progress as a replacement to "war-socialism" that w... (So, does this mean he is going to unify by not objecting to his demands? Thaink about it.)(So, does this mean he is going to unify by not allowing objection to his demands? Think about it.) He gives hints about his tactics in this regard by his constant disarming of questions by saying "we cannot become distracted..." Brewton said: Either Senator Obama hates white America and wishes God to destroy whites, or he is a hypocrite who panders to blacks without believing what he professes. Okay I think I got it, you don't agree with this guy using the genocidal terminology, but you are saying his point is that the guy is dangerous for America. That is very different than where we were at the beginning of this conversation when you said his conclusions were fact, as in the Socrates analogy. I can totally understand your viewpoint that his beliefs and policies could be dangerous for America. I can totally understand the writer's viewpoint that given what you said, he cannot possibly bring us all together. Yep, that makes sense. Goodnight, will. That is very different than where we were at the beginning of this conversation when you said his conclusions were fact,No it is not. Either Senator Obama hates white America and wishes God to destroyThose are the only 2 logical choices. I have yet to hear another one from you. Wishing God to destroy whites as part of your faith does not necessarily mean that he is going to build ovens. I was only giving you my opinion on Obama's politics. I did not tell you which option I agreed with. As you wish, here is another possiblity. Obama grew up in a mixed race family. Obama was a community organizer trying to build support for his group on the South Side of Chicago, and a minister at another church suggested he'd have more luck with black clergy if he joined a congregation himself. Rev Wright was doing the most to help the black community in the south side, and there was a synergy of goals and needs between them. Within the walls of Trinity he found a connection to the African-American community he'd lacked as a child raised by his white mother and grandparents, an important cultural marker for a biracial candidate who later would try to appeal to black and white voters alike... Your other "possibility" is just another way of saying he "is a hypocrite who panders to blacks without believing what he professes ( in the context of a racist black lib theology)." Which, by the way, happens to be what I am tending to believe. close but not quite. I don't profess that all jews go to hell, yet I'm a member of a church that does. If I want to run for mayor of my small town, I don't think it's makes me a hypocrite to let the members of the church give me a leg up, to have sat in a church for 20 years that spouted a message that feels like hatred to me, or that you would be right in calling me a hypocrite for it. Pandering, well, politicians do that, yes. And I probably would too. Hypocite, no, panderers yesyes. I still haven't heard him profess to believe in black liberation theology, or the intentional infection of Aids into the black community by our government. (If he does that, he's off my list.) And you won'... close but not quite. I don't profess that all jews go to hell, yet I'm a member of a church that does. You may disagree with this point, but obviously you subscribe to the theology or you would not attend the church. Black Liberation Theology is a 'theology'. It is not merely a contentious point similar to the example you provide. All members of the KKK may not believe in the exact same things. Some may be separatists. Some may be genocidal maniacs. Some may favor white social control out of fear of people different from them. However, we can reasonably assume that all members of the KKK are racist to whatever degree. Hypocite, no, panderers yesyes.Hypo... |
