the purpose of dreaming is "as broad as all waking thought. That's why I say dreams are really just thinking in a different biochemical state."

A most interesting article, thanks for clipping.

It is said in the article:

A dream researcher at the University of Turku, in Finland, Revonsuo believes
that dreams are a sort of nighttime theater in which our brains screen realistic
scenarios. This virtual reality simulates emergency situations and provides an
arena for safe training. As Revonsuo puts it, "The primary function of negative
dreams is rehearsal for similar real events, so that threat recognition and
avoidance happens faster and more automatically in comparable real situations."
I wonder if dreaming of other people's life, their perils or pleasures, may indicate our empathic tendencies; is it an evolution...

They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which
escape those who dream only by night.

ask me and I would say, definitely an evolutionary advantage FtF, moreover i firmly believe that dreams may yet reveal a future mode of communication, enhancing empathy and mutual cognition

wildcat, i certainly hope so.

I am reminded of Yeats saying:
"In dreams begins responsibility".

I'm also reminded of Mr. White in Reservoir Dogs, who said: Shit. You shoot me in a dream you better wake up and apologize.

but i'm assuming that isn't exactly the communication you refer to? any clues on that future mode of communication?
