Excellent clip, great choice of wording. Maybe, 'God,' will have a nice little chat with all those Christians at Judge- ment Day!

You know, that quote applies to all religions, not just Christianity.

And not all Christians are bigots. Maybe if you stop putting people of different religions in different boxes, they won't hate each other so much.

I am a Christian, saan-kpa, so I'm not sure who you're referring to in terms of "putting people of different religions in different boxes". A great many American Christians are guilty of emphasizing anger, self-righteousness and intolerance over love and forgiveness. I think it's incumbent on those of us Christians who would like to be thought better of to speak out against that.

Ravenlock: I would have thought if very obvious and very clear what this means. We are all in a box of one sort or another, it's called categorization and I don't understand your reaction to this. I have never met you yet I know that our views are miles apart, we are *not* in the same box. And you have no idea how much that pleases me.

This is a... strange tangent for this discussion to have taken, but perhaps some elaboration is in order. I have no problem with the concept of categorization and didn't imply that I did. What I said was that I wasn't putting "different" religions in boxes, I was talking about *my* religion. American Christianity has a reputation for being intolerant, hateful, bigoted. As an American Christian, this saddens me. I'm trying to work to change it.

How that offends you, dranger, I'm not sure, but as for whether we're in the same box or not, I have no idea. You seem to know. We're certainly in the same box of "humanity". Are we in the same box of "U.S. citizen"? "Christian"? I have no idea. I'd b...

Addendum: Looking at your profile, no, we're not in the same box of "U.S. Citizen". I'm curious - what about the quote I posted or the article beyond it linking it to American Christianity bothers you?

Ravenlock: Please accept my apologies for having flown of the handle with my previous comment. I was having a bad day and didn't take the time to read your post in detail.

I have a slight problem with various aspects concerning religious matters and consistently fail to get my point of view across. It's crystal clear in my head, but when I try and express things in writing it just doesn't go according to plan . Anyway, sorry for having, well, attacked you in the way I did. No hard feelings?

dranger - Apology accepted, no hard feelings at all. Thank you for coming back to say that; it's much appreciated. Have a lovely Easter.

I have this quote in both my profile here, and on my blog. I love it!
