People can be cruel and cover up put-down remarks as "humerous" and then accuse the "butt" of their remarks as being too serious, without humor or too sensitive. The aggressor (because such behavior is aggressive and meant to hurt) will often adopt a hurt expression and say something to the effect that they "didn't mean anything by it" in order to avoid being held responsible for their remarks. Phooey on them, I say!
