Lara, I found that the following method works almost all the time for me.

1. cover the egg in cold water in a saucepan
2. bring to a boil
3. take pan off heat, cover with lid
4. let set for 20 min.
5. rinse with cold water.

nice egg, no green ring. I hope this works for you too.
