Instead of continuing to move forward with quiet automobiles, the NFB wants to burden everyone around them with unnecessary noise.

Has anyone proposed some type of solution that doesn't move us backwards in noise pollution, or reduce the enjoyment of the quiet cabin a hybrid owner enjoys? How about a semi-directional wireless transmitter of some sort which people could opt to buy a receiver for? The system could indicate approximate distance, direction and speed of traffic.

Heck, the receiver could be added to premium headphones or digital music players and joggers/cyclists could buy them, too. Everyone wins and no one is unnecessarily, or unwillingly, burdened.

Yes, I like the receiver idea. Kinda the same idea as the silent whistles only dogs can hear. (nobody get fired up - I'm not comparing the blind to dogs) Only the ones that need to hear the sound hear it. Makes sense! We can't be the only ones that think so.
