Not as daft as it first sounds. The knock-on effect of global warming sets in motion a complex interaction between many different factors so different parts of the planet would exhibit different climate changes. Some may become colder, some warmer, some not show much change, some become healthier and some unhealthier. That will be an overture to what comes next. Taken purely in isolation, the idea that there may be populations and communities whose morbidity numbers improve as a result of climate change -- warmer temperatures, less severe winters -- is plausible. But coming from a spokesperson for the Bush White House, which has typically embraced environmental policies that can only be seen as deceptive and dangerous, and given that the notion is lifted from a document that is clearly meant to argue the opposite, it seems pretty clearly to be nothing but disingenuousness. Climate change is a big problem, even if there may be some people who benefit from it. Bush administration has a of "selective science". sorry , that should of been history of "selective science" Oh Dana....your such a twit! |
