Most people are aware of the seven deadly (or cardinal) sins, but few are aware that there are two sets of seven virtues as well, one set standing in direct contrast to the sins.

I find it interesting that a page devoted to atheism had a concise and easily found description of these attributes, but the religious sites I visited required wading through reams of theology much too extensive to clip.

Practicing temperance is one thing, as long as one tempers the tempering. Most of the virtues are good ideas in and of themselves, but chastity is something I have never seen much use for - how many altar boys would have breathed easier if celibacy had never been in effect?

Many ideas regarding virtue and vice transcend the boundaries of faith. It's mainly the people who are insecure in their beliefs who get their undies in a bunch about it.
