Nope... no union where I work. We're a small fiber optics company. Sure, I get 5 weeks of vacation a year but I'd love to siesta for the summer.

I was 1 month away from going on my first vacation in 3 years... only to have a family health issue shoot that one down... and that's after coming back from a business trip to here and here, although I worked like a slave for a week, being sick as a dog while at it... so quit your complaining!... "only 5 weeks"- shame on you!

The only time working age Americans get a vacation is if they're unemployed or a teacher (and we all know how underpaid, undervalued and generally sucky that profession can be).

That's not entirely accurate, there are plenty of companies which insist on people taking vacations.
