If you've never heard The Ying Tong Song, Maybe I could describe it as being written by the ancestors of Monty Python, that the stars of Saturday night live heard to in their cradles. Not a very good description, but maybe you'll understand if you listen to the song. It's a great way to find something to laugh about when it might seem hard.

The fact that Harry Secombe was the sanest of the three, really brings home the fine line between being a genius and the dark depression that affected Peter and Spike.
"Small Dreams of a Scorpion" gives some clues as to what Spike went through. Peter Sellers, the man who wouldn't appear on Michael Parkinson unless he could dress as a German Corporal, lifted millions to joy with his acting.

I'm sure Spike and Peter had their identities lost among the many characters they formed. There is an act, where a comedian dons a clown suit, and walks on stage. The suit comes off when they leave, and their identity intact. The Goons were a product of a time before pop culture, and it's like the Goons were a hobby that they enjoyed so much people related, and they became popular. They developed into a product, and were expected to behave like goons, and comedians everywhere they went, and because people were made so happy they made every attempt to maintain the laughter.
