egoldstein says: They talk a good game, but the tax credits needed to boost the industry in a massive way are being held up. If and when Congress gets serious about removing our dependence on foreign oil we'll know it...they'll extend the tax credits that are set to expire this year. This would not only be a major shot in the arm for the industry, but for our entire economy as well!!! There is a world wide shortage of solar panels. Still, alternative energy only benefits city & suburban dwellers (i.e. cars/trucks) In rural areas we need a vehicle that can get us somewhere fast, electric cars won't do it because we'd need all batteries and where are we going to sit? Hydrogen? Water? We already use propane in some vehicles. The only use I see for alternate energy in rural areas is for cooking, heating and electricity for the house. So far no vehicles have been fast enough for me to commute 60 miles one way without spending hours on the road instead of 60 minutes. Good luck with green alternatives. Oil interests have their hands way up the butt of the government. In fact an ex oil company man sits in the White House as we speak. |
