AtlLiberal says: Oh my. The opponents claim of denying their religious right to hate is particularly endearing. Look. It's simple. Any idiot can say we queers are going to hell. Who cares? I don't believe in hell, anyway. That's not hate speech. Hate speech is directly threatening someone, like "I'm gonna cut off your tits and watch you die and rejoice that your going to hell, you dyke bitch"!! Big difference! LOL The bill seeks to amend the federal code to prohibitPerhaps my comment skewed the clipping. The article talks about Bush's proposed veto of this bill that deals with violent crimes against people that are defined as "hate crimes". This is direcvtly related to Bush's sucking up to his religious base. I for one would think this is a terrible injustice aned promotes bigotry and prejudice. It's not only hate speech. It's hate crimes. The added portions deal with gender, sexual orientat... So let me see if I understand this logic.....it is less offensive to commit violence upon another so long as you do it for purely personal reasons and not because of some racial or sexual bias, correct? A guy should go to jail for less time because he chopped off the head of his "friggin' neighbor" rather than his "friggin' queer neighbor", right? A guy should go to jail for less time because he chopped off the headBasically, that's right. But if you expect me to teach you the perils of prejudice you've come to the wrong place. There are enough examples where people have been motivated simply by hatred of a class of people to warrant special laws to attempt to make this sort of crime a special case. If you think this is unjust complain to your representative. You'll get no sympathy from me. |
