I think the said change of terms is a BIG issue. in the face of society of information and flow of availability, the act of facebook is unthinkable. They are providers (and earn much from that) and not owners of the information that flows through the system.

I use Facebook but only for very casual, trivial contact.

I cannot understand why people would use it for anything more extensive than that. It is really not THAT good and not really intended for 'deep' communication surely?

I find it quite 'buggy' to use and the general level of communication is not exactly 'profound' - no offense to my Facebook 'friends' !

You would have to be mad to post your Life Work or Magnum Opus on Facebook. My advice is to just use it for fun, casual contact.

It is a fairly simple matter to run your own blogs, websites etc using a reputable web hosting company.
Why would you risk putting anything of any real substance onto Facebook?

I'm too paranoid to use MySpace or Facebook to tell you the truth. I really haven't looked into them too much but I'm skeptical by nature. I've heard some dodgy things about Facebook lately & they aren't putting folks at ease with their tos.

I'm on Clipmarks, Wordpress.com and Posterous. Hell with facebook, myspace and all those ridiculously brainless social-network pimps.

I'm on facebook but it's mainly to keep in contact with family and a few close friends. And I never put anything really personal on it. I treat it the same as clipmarks. I don't say anything here that I wouldn't say in public or any other place.
