Women are still unfortunately considered second-class citizens in many countries around the world. This is also true where organized religion is involved. In North America it takes shape in the home by wives and daughters being subservient to their husbands and fathers. My mother and sister on becoming born again Christians suddenly cannot make a decision without consulting their husbands. They used to be strong women. Religion is dictating our laws on the rights of a womans body. Womens rights seems to have hit a road block and made a u-turn. So glad I'm single.

At one time though women in the middle east did have more rights but as religion got hold in government they lost most of if not all of their rights.I've read bits of the Koran and according to what is written, female children are to be treated the same as boys, all children of either sex are valued. Women are to be honoured. The zealots have somehow twisted that treat them worse than animals. The Jews have always treated women as second class citizens.

Slavery was happening from Africa long before the white man. Black females regularly augmented Arab harems. The offspring of the unions were treated as EQUAL with those from Arab females. The offspring of white unions with black slaves were slaves. Often the sex was to produce more slaves. The best outcome was to be a houseboy/girl but never equal.
