AtlLiberal says:
To be fair, it doesn't appear that McCain's pick for VP is a dyed-in-the-wool creationist but she still believes in the absurd notion that biblical creationism has a ligitimate place in the science classroom. Her ridiculous "teach the controversy" stance is of course the back door ploy by religious fanatics to gain a toehold in public classrooms. I don't see them siding with Native American's to teach their particular creation myth.

IMO, it would be intellectually enlightening for that to occur but I seriously doubt if it gets even a snippet of national news coverage. Remember, over half of the US population believes in creationism. That's a lot of votes.

Achieving increased levels of education occurs in a decreasing subset of the overall population.

Thus the formula for success is to appeal to the ignorant. Republicans have been winning presidential elections this way for years.

America, and conservatism, thrives on anti-intellectualism.

Bravo! Morons!

You gotta be kidding me! This is the official mantra of the Democrat party...not Republicans. It's in the DNA of Democrats to play to the lowest common denominator. "You're too weak and stupid to take care of yourself, so we, in our infinite wisdom, will do it for you"!

Not kidding you.

It's just like Obama mentioned. Republicans pride themselves on being ignorant.

That's why they never offer solutions to societal problems and focus on lapel pins, flag politics, and belacous religious pablum.

McBush has first hand knowledge. All the conservative morons in South Carolina bought into the Rovian spiel that McBush fathered a black child derailing his presidential bid.

Bravo! Morons

My favorite line of the whole Democratic Convention was when Governor Mark Warner said "just imagine, in a few short months, we'll have an administration that actually believes in science."

Ha! Of course they do believe in science that's been paid for by Big Oil and Big Pharma. As long as they can use the results to line their pockets and those of their cronies they are regular Mr. Wizards.

Belacous...that's a new word for me, Bob. Yes, you are right...we are much more concerned with INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS as opposed to the COLLECTIVE good. That, is what liberty is all about.

Really sparling.

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" sounds like collective good to me and nothing about exercising individual liberty?

Why are police forces raiding demonstrators head quarters at the RNC?

Sounds like your more interested in hypocrisy.

Individual rights - like those that have been eroded over the past seven and a half years. Yet the preamble of the US Constitution mentions one of its purposes is to "promote the general welfare", and places that before "secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity"
