Am I not, too, an American moved, and thus partially blinded, by religious and national myth? ... a foundation of deliberately constructed ignorance, a result of years of selective education

Americans are brought up on a steady diet of myth and "constructed ignorance," so, no surprise that Jay Michaelson has viewed Israel in the same manner. In Israel, the myth disappears Palestinians. In the US, the myth disappears Native Americans.
