Although I find his opinions distastefull, I am delighted that he isn't simply saying what he thinks will get him elected.

I prefer politicians to be radical while campaigning but willing to compromise once elected. It is the duty of a candidate to give us a candid representation of their opinions, so that we know whether or not we should vote for them to represent us. It is the duty of an elected official to moderate their opinions and work with others so that our system doesn't break down in partisan insanity.

But hasn't this already happened?? I hear your point, ouyang, and if all politicians were honest, it might have some impact. As long as we have a right that clings to one overall religious agenda, and a left that is beyond idealistic and at the same time more concerned with scoring points off the right, we american people will never know who tro trust.
