So many of today's population centers, are based around water sources, like rivers for obvious reasons, and large volumes of water need to be available for existing populations. Changing weather patterns will affect water distribution, and rainfall patterns. Old rivers will dry up, and new rivers will appear where now, there are none. We will have to follow the water.

What I find especially troubling, is how water resources are being bought up by multinationals and privatized, putting our most important resource in the hands of corporations, with no public accountability. I think it would be safe to say that in the future, they who control the water, would pretty much control everything.
