Earlier this month, <A class="iAs" classname="iAs" href="#" target="_blank" itxtdid="4827446">Microsoft</A> announced a major update for Windows Home Server (WHS), called Power Pack 1. PP1, which is scheduled for release in the first half of 2008 and will be made available to WHS users via Windows Update, contains multiple new features and enhancements.</DIV></blockquote><div style="height: 2px; font-size: 2px; background: #dcdcdc; border-bottom: solid 1px #f5f5f5; margin: 2px 4px;"></div><blockquote style="text-align: left; padding: 0px 8px; margin: 4px 0px 8px 0px; background: transparent; border: none;" cite="http://www.msfn.org/comments.php?shownews=21785"><DIV>
Users will also be able to add a hard drive to the home server to server as a backup repository for the home server itself. At the moment you can protect files on the server through replicated storage (essentially software RAID1), but that’s about it. Now, when you add a drive to the home server it will detect it and offer to use it for backing up itself.
