One reason why I like a lot of science fiction is because it's composites of actual cultures, and by extension, fashions. Sometimes clothes are worn for practical reasons, like to block the sun's rays from giving you cancer.

I've often wondered if they get hot under the veil/mask...especially during the summer since it hits 45-50 in the UAE.

I've always thought that was the whole idea...this way the women will be hesitant to go out of their homes due to the heat...that way, more restriction....
