Of course Obama would discourage his children from having underage sex (out of wedlock sex, on the other hand, is another moral decision that is not yours to make. People have been having sex/children outside of marriage for millions of years. It is part of biology. There is no specific reason that marriage is required to be able to have sex. Just because your religion says you must be married to have sex does not mean that all people should be. The storage of the condom and the determination as to whether it is safe to use should probably be something taught in school too.

I believe that obama is referring to 'punishment' as a result of a mistake or hasty, badly-thought-out action. And forcing a young adult or a child to have their baby because of a bad decision would effectively be punishment (in the case of making abortions illegal). There is no specific reason abortion should be made as such (other than some peoples' personal moral outrage). I'm not saying that everyone should have an abortion, but it shouldn't be illegal.

Potzy, all that the first chapter of romans says is that (paraphrasing) 'fornication is bad.' Just because people have been doing something for a while doesn't make it right, but just because the bible says it is bad doesn't make it wrong. And there's no reason that it should be 'wrong'.
