There are over 800 languages in Papua new Guinea. Mandarin may have the largest number of (native) speakers, but English is the most widespread first and second language. Basque may be the most difficult to learn as a second language, but everyone has an equal capacity to acquire a primary language. The difficulty of learning a second language depends on your primary. The Berber languages have a native alphabet called Tifinagh that is attested from the 200s BCE. Latin is an official language of the Holy See, not the government of Vatican City. The VC uses Italian, English, French, German, and Spanish. The Holy See, which is the administrative body of the RC Church, still uses Latin. ... This are quite amazing facts. I'm glad English (in it's many forms) is so useful. There are significant changes/evolutions in English now, in the computer age. CamelCaps, for example are becoming common. My last file name was: WhiteHouse_BushSucks.rtfd Then, too, text messaging and messages like OMG, BFF, LOL, are becoming real common usage. I also like to see the 'evolution of icons,' we now have 'picture words,' like hieroglyphics for On, Off, Play, Record, Stop, FF, RW, and symbols becoming universal for RestRooms, Restaurant, Campground, etc. Interesting. Nothin' ever stops changing. OMG. I suppose we'll have to teach our kids 华语/華語 |
