These people are a cancer to civilized Western society. Drive these people out! These people are a cancer to the world Fundamentalist Christians and Jews have never hurt anyone. yes you are right my fren fundamentalist are croook No it's more like, Fundamentalist <enter organised religions' name here> Are Animals! Unfortunately, there are no animals that behave this way. This sort of brutality seems to be very much a human trait, and -- speaking as a historian -- it can be found in every society, every religion, every culture and every historical period. To pretend that it is somehow unique to Muslims is perhaps convenient and comforting (if you are not a Muslim), but it is of course nonsense, as anyone who actually watches the news or pays attention to history can tell you. Rapes, sorry to say, happen all over the world, and most rapists seem to believe that their actions are justified by some system of beliefs, whether religious or not. I totally agree with @enbar, this act is not justified by any religion. I feel distressed after watching comments by other clippers though. What i expect from them was to criticise the act and the person but they are targeting the religion (was this described in religion?). I can see from this who are fundamentalist. But good-intentioned people in the West have allowed our values to be eroded in the name of fairness and multi-cultural acceptance. C... Sorry for the gramatical errors above. @kinokonoko As a historian I beg to differ with this comment: aking a historical perspective does not help deal with the reality of the HERE and NOWAnd this one we are not yet a part of historyIn fact we are very much a part of history. History is happening now. To pretend that what happens today and tomorrow is unaffected by decades and centuries that have preceded us is short-sighted at best, arrogant at worst. The claim that a serious, careful, broad-minded understanding of history is irrelevant to an understanding of present problems is, in my opinion, a dangerous delusion, one that suggests that we today are somehow "above" or "free from" historical infl... |
