This is an experimental extension, and you have to log in to use it. But if you have a lot of tabs open at once, this is a very logical way to group them. Granted, its kinda not all the way working, but I've not found anything else that does it.

Tab Groups is currently labeled pre-alpha and is at version 0.02, so no guarantees are made on it working properly however no "major" bugs are known of (see here for known bugs). The basic functionality is in place but there are conflicts with some extensions and a lack of UI niceness.
