One of the best reasons for a siesta is the heat. With 14 hour days, the middle when it is hottest, is a good time to stay out of the sun. Rest for two hours, and the afternoon's work can seem easier to do. Being overheated can be tiring, leading to mistakes and short tempers.
Some of the most difficult problems have been solved during sleep. Perhaps due to the different way our mind approaches them.
Some of the things that keep people awake at night, would be more likely solved if they slept on them.

Sleep is good, taking a nap in the afternoon, not only refreshes you, but relaxes you & rlaxed people tend to handle problems much better than stressed out pissed off people. Just a thought. : )
