"All U.S. forces in Iraq will simply remain in their bases and not come out."

This is simply ridiculous. It sounds more like a kindergarten spat, than world politics.

*LOL*

I don't see what they hope to achieve by such tactics. Are they just going to hunker down in their bases indefinitely, then? Then why not just pack up and go home?.

Also, since we're told it's oh so important for American "national security" to be fighting in Iraq, wouldn't they be "emboldening the enemies", by letting them run wild? Haha, the logic of the "nya nya tactic" fails me.

So the U.S. has to come up with some other piece of paper to pretend to justify their occupation, so they want this 'contract,' signed, this so-called SOFA -- a Status of Forces Agreement.

Thank you so much for explaining that to me! I understand the situation a lot better now and what Bush might be up to and more importantly, why. Thanks! .

"A Marxist!" I replied, "What the hell are you talking about."

"Well," this professor explained, "You believe all wars are fought for economic reasons."

"Oh?" I replied.

"Yes," he said. "That's one of the tenets of Marxist."

At that time, I didn't know that.

BTW - although I'm sure we could find some Marxist living in the basement of a hovel in NYC, or hiding out in a coffee shop in San Francisco, the idea of 'being a Marxist" in this country at this time is pretty much a joke, an absurd accusation. Nobody I know ...
