GOOD STUFF Maslow is interesting, but as a psychologist, he was working in a speculative vacuum. He is working purely with ideas without a substantial grounding in reality. I seem to recall him saying that the only three people in history who were self-actualize were 1. Himself, 2. Jesus Christ, and 3. His Great Aunt. Although this could be simply urban legend. (uh, you know, the kind of urban legends philosophy students tell around the campfire?) Still, I'm reminded of a joke I saw retold by Kay Redfield Jamison in one of her books: Psychologist build castles in the air, and their patients live in them. Although, a serious pop for the content in the last part, on The Cause of War and a Solution especially quoting Bill Moyers and Chris Hedges. Even if it is only philosophical speculation nearly impossible to actualize, it is really good speculation. Great stuff Socs! Thanks |
