jatfla says: The hypocrisy is amazing. The US government (?) wants other countries to drill for more oil in their land but we can't touch our own. Drill! And while we're doing it, Congress needs to free up the fast tracks for nuclear, solar, coal and wind. Frankly, I don't care what the rest of the world is paying for a gallon of gas. That's for *their* people to address. If Congress wants to ruin our economy completely...they'll do nothing. And a ruined American economy is a very serious problem for the rest of the World. ..they'll do nothingexcept to impose a "windfall tax" on those who are supplying our oil, in spite of the dopey regulations and cafe standards! Frankly, I don't care what the rest of the world is paying for a gallon of gas. That's for *their* people to address. If Congress wants to ruin our economy completely...they'll do nothing. And a ruined American economy is a very serious problem for the rest of the World.I don't know what we're stockpiling it for, if not for us. And while we're depleting that stockpile, we can certainly get off our asses to find other forms of energy. Yes, we need to find another form of energy. But until then, we need to start drilling domestically. Until we do, the Saudi government and the rest of OPEC will keep things the way they are. While I'm at it, as far as I'm concerned, if any national head of any OPEC nation comes to America, they need to be arrested and charged with RICO law violations and purposefully endangering America! While I'm at it, as far as I'm concerned, if any national head of any OPEC nation comes to America, they need to be arrested and charged with RICO law violations and purposefully endangering America! Now, now. They have a right to capitalistic values just like we do. They're not in business to serve Americans, they're in business to serve themselves. They have the supply, we have the demand. It's easy enough to fix. Buy the private capital is invested in oil. (Those windfall profits didn't fall from heaven!) If our government doesn't make it easy to reinvest into new alternatives, we'll be paying up the yin-yang until they do. Yes I agree, they have the right to capatilistic values. However, when you a group of persons collude together to agree to commit certain activities that harm the american people, whether on purpose or accident, and then don't react to correct the problem when noticed immediatly, then yes, I have a problem. And now that gas has reached $4/gallon here and they learn that we will not be getting less gas because its too damn high, they finally have an emergency meeting to talk about how they are affecting the international economy and are being hatted by everyone, to now include America; and that we may start investing into alternatives verses keeping with the status quo. |
