treebeard31 says: Great covers Great books I've read them all except Tropic of Cancer. They are great books, ghiberti. I just got 1984 in the mail today, along with The Relic. Great books! I am happy to say that I had the chance to read most. Ulysses is banned? Now I really want to read it again. We at BookYards have provided the links that one must go to in order to download and read these novels. The Top 10 Banned Books are: 1984 By George Orwell Catcher In The Rye by J. D. Salinger -- You must scroll down to Salinger Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury -- You must scroll down to Bradbury Grapes Of Wrath by John Steinbeck -- You must scroll down to Steinbeck Lady Chatterley's Lover by D. H. Lawrence The Naked Lunch by William Burroughs -- Cannot find a link to download from Slaughter House Five by Kurt Vonnegut To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee Tropic of Cancer by Henry Miller -- You must scroll down to Miller Ulysses by James Joyce Isn't George Orwell's 1984 Hillary Clintons blueprint? Not before George Bush is done with it. One should read all of these books. Those who ban them fear the truths within and that is sad, really sad. I'd love to know WHERE these were banned?? At least half of these were required reading when I was in high school (85 - 89, Houston Texas). I'm 99.9% sure that all Western literature (which these are) were 100% banned in the USSR, for instance. I was in high school (85 - 89, Houston Texas).Me too! I went to Clements. I'm sure "1984" must have been banned in the USSR... And all countries who ban a lot of books probably ban "Farenheight 451" because that's the topic of the book. What about "Mein Kampf" by Hitler? It is still banned in a lot of western countries though it is not a great book (very boring actually) I still think it should'nt be banned Thanks for the list, I think I have a lot of reading this summer. |
