You guys do realize that the choice of the government not to drill very much on US soil or in US territories is a safety net ensuring our way of life right? Lets say that in a couple of years all the foreign oil resources are depleted to the point of panic level and green energy isn't quite up to snuff yet (although there are amazing things going on with green energy right now) guess who will still have their oil reserves reasonably untapped? Thats right, the good ole US of A. Sure I would like cheaper gas to put in my 14mpg truck but hell, gas has been more expensive than we are paying now in Europe for years. So suck it up for the future of the country and invest in green energy when the time comes.

We won't still have those reserves off the coast of Florida because they are being tapped by Cuba. And what happens if the world supply does collapse? We would still be years away from being able to develop any of our own oil supplies and still have the environuts to get past.

If keeping reserves is the primary concern, why not allow drilling with the condition that a certain percentage of the oil go into the federal reserve? We would lower our dependence on foreign oil and increase our usable reserves. Thing is, those claiming they want to reduce our dependence on foreign oil don't really care about foreign oil, they just care about their own environmentalist agenda.

"No drilling in ANWR, nor in the Everglades, nor off the coast of
Florida, nor off the coast of Florida... If states want to have
drilling off their coast, as Louisiana does, that's their right.
Did he forget Florida is a state?
Did he say "nor off the coast of Florida" twice because it has two coasts?
