He thinks he's correctly psychoanalyzing the dude. I believe he's only exposing the extent to which he thinks. During a Republican administration Matthews I bet he would have welcomed and joined in his thinking and not emphasized the "militant" nature. These "fears" were the same thing that the left cited 2000-2008.
