egoldstein says: Honestly, the human race really depresses the shit out of me sometimes. People actually torture cows in the name of making a buck. Makes me sick. I could not agree more.It takes very small men to hurt creatures deliberately knowing they have no way to fight back. Divine Justice needs administered immediately! When treated badly, that behavior is often transmitted on to less powerful beings. I would say that you are seeing the results of lifetimes of abuse. Not an excuse. Here's another take... In order for people to work such a job, slaughtering these animals, they have to kill whatever sense of empathy, whatever sense of identification, within themselves of the animal. Such a numbing process requires active measures to ensure distance and self protection. It is almost as if the need to self protect (to prevent feeling anything for these animals) is acted out as if the animals themselves were physically attacking them. And in a sense they are, they are haunting these people, and they are fighting back. Once again, no excuse. But I think you are seeing a human behavior, one you should expect most people to act out to some degree, not an exceptional one. Meet Your Meat - 12 min. PETA undercover video on exactly what happens to cows, pigs, and chickens in slaughterhouses. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-513747926833909134 I watched this video once back in November and became a vegetarian. The Humane Society of the United States' investigation also discovered that the meat from these tortured animals gets fed to children through the National School Lunch Program! If people are cruel to animals they can and will be cruel to people. All God's creatures feel pain.Cruelty also seems to be part of nature though. Ever watched a cat with a mouse? A spider with a fly? and on and on. I guess what I find so disappointing about humans is that we still have that cruel, torturing element that we should have evolved enough to leave behind. I suppose the thing you can do about this is only use organic or ligetimate meat not supporting the mass cruel meat industry by buying local sourced sound foods from your butcher or whatever else ,It also tastes a lot better a whats better than a clear conscience |
