E.T.'s resembling Hominids?...As most biological / evolutionary scientists would agree, it would seem that humans and apes are among the most "intelligent" animals on the planet. The only reason apes can't integrate into any environment as well as us is because of the food types they require, limiting the habitats they can survive in.

Our physical type seems best to adapting to new habitats (other than insects), and is 'better' than apes, in which case Hominid would maybe be the most likely physical shape. Just a thought. I'm more curious about why they all have such big heads!

On another note, has anyone heard this little story that suggested that E.T. was made out of a direct request from Ronald Reagan when he was president? He supposedly asked Spielberg to make it with a 'friendly' alien so that when the general public were introduced to real aliens there would be less mass hysteria. Just about every televised alien up until E.T. had been just as horrid as humans Don't know where I heard it, but the story is many many years old...

They would be preceeded by a wave of protons and we monitor protons densities in space(Search 'Space Weather'). Movement also causes heat, or is heat???, but the movement thru space would cause a warm spot to trail them. We measure that too(We take pictures of heat).

There are animals and plants on the planet that are difficult to recognize as life and they share our planet with us. Why would they develop bi-lateral symmentry? Lets say theuy have rational thought. Our rational thought is based upon learned results of our experience of life on our planet under these circumstances.

If technology survived with us and continued to increase in complexity robotics could provide the much needed labor, the human body, cramped for space, out of sunlight and roboticly lazied might fall frail and how many generations in a confined species does it take to make an evolutionary change? Big eyes and the need for lights suggest low light levels. Frail bodies and high technology suggest low physical exercise and a poor diet and so on.
The encounters as reported over the last 70 years suggest to me they are time travellers from our future.

No doubt, though I can't claim to ever fallen for that. Hallucinations, sure, mass hallucinations? No way in hell. Being one who has hallucinated on numerous occasions, and sometimes with numerous other people, I find ridiculous the claims of mass hallucinations.

1.) When hallucinating, people see different things, and usually there's not just one thing being seen that's not really there, there's multiple things like that.

2.) It's rare for people to see the same thing, particularly so a thing described in the same way, seeing such similarities tends towards requiring suggestion AND suggestability, somebody saying "hey, you see this fireball in my hands, the neon-blue center and sparks flying off?" I mean, it's one thing if all these people are standing together and one points it out and there's gas in the air and it carries on from there, but it's an entirely different thing when everybody's spread out over several towns and over several weeks? c'mon. I quote, "People in several towns who reported seeing it over several weeks have offered similar descriptions of the object." Even the pilot's explanation that it could be the sun going down, what about the different locations across townS?

3.) IF these were hallucinations, surely somebody else would have seen something else, too. In fact, there should be numerous examples of such. Perhaps werewolves, vampires, swamp-thing, angels, imps, will o' the wisp, whatever. Perhaps a talking tractor, I don't f'ing know, hallucinations can be soooo much stranger than that.

4.) It could be a multi-town hoax to draw attention to their town for whatever reason, increase tourism, whatever. Even the constable's in on it, if that be so.

On a funny note, my Dad and my wife were sitting out in the yard drinking coffee one evening after a very late dinner, I was doing the dishes, my wife came running into the house and said you have to see this. I went outside and there was this huge thing in the sky barely above treetop level, with blinking lights, and not making a sound, scarey. The next day there was over 200 hundred sightings in the newspaper. Turned out to be the Goodyear blimp that was fl...
