sahara says: Wow, you would think they would have more important issues to debate! What a waste of time and tax dollars! I may not agree with what it said, but doesn't our constitution give them the right to say it? I guess not anymore! Even freedom of speech is up for debate in this regime! Your title is wrong. They didn't condemn freedom of speech, they condemned what was said. And they didn't make it a crime (unlike hate crime laws that make thought a crime). n2, the biggest mangler of misleading information through distorted clip titles. Pot calling the kettle black, gotta love it. They are attacking freedom of speech by condemning what was said. Same thing if you ask me. Where were all these bush sheep when chickenhawk Vietnam War avoider and sitting GOP Senator Saxby Chambliss ruthlessly attacked Silver Star and Bronze Star awarded, wounded Vietnam Veteran, Max Cleland in the 2006 Georgia Senatorial campaign? The Dems can't stop this insanity, but they give in to Hannity! (WARNING: SHAMELESS SELF PIMPING BELOW!) And the worshiping of empty uniforms continues! They are attacking freedom of speech by condemning what was said. Same thing if you ask me.Then wouldn't that mean that you just condemned free speech by voicing your disagreement with what I said? Well they can do that, and thats what they did, but its a ridiculous waste of time and hypocrasy to boot, in part by the Republicans, I don't see them drawing resolutions against the Swiftboaters, or Michael Savage or any of their lunatic fringe elements. That the democrats went along with this charade is shameful, to say the least. Last I checked the democrats are running the show. Maybe (just maybe) some of those democrats realized it is time they backed up their 'we support the troops' rhetoric and that 'spitting on the troops' isn't going to win them any elections this time around. And as for those who voted in support of the slander of Petraeus, why didn't a single one of them have the guts to vote against him just a few months ago when they had the chance? Noticed you didn't touch the slandering of Max Cleland with a ten foot pool. Condemnation using the force and power embodied in their public positions is more powerful and intimidating then simple disagreement. If Democrats are spitting on soldiers Republicans are crapping on them for sending them there and keeping them there on the pretext of lies. Barring the typical voter disenfranchisement of Democratic voters by republicans there is going to be a tsunami of Democratic Congressmen and Senators entering office in 2008. Independents are fleeing the sinking republican ship like rats. So criticizing a general is the same as "spitting on the troops" I don't think so. Petraus knew the role he was playing, the agenda he was pushing, he is no wild eyed 19 year-old GI. It is amazing the ease at which a clear thinking clipper can make the complimentary delusions of any number of intellectually dishonest and illogical clippers look so foolish. And the willhelm spake and said....nothing. |
