Great clip, thanks. Debby, this might be my favorite thing you have clipped. These are great. It is nice to know someone is using their head out there. The rolling water drum is super. World poverty can be a thing of the past if we really wanted it to be. Too bad humans are not more humanity minded! Wonderful clip Debby.. Tis stuff such as this that gives me hope when all seems gloomy and uncaring. Its the small feasible projects and inventions that will be the savior of most of humanity, not the huge multi-billion grand schemes and engineering Rube Goldberg- like nonsensical dreams. If God created all men as equal then why is there so much discrepancy in wealth distribution. $2/day. How can anyone live this cheap. We have got money for weaponry and other showoffs but nothing for suffering humanity. I must say that if there is a God out there somewhere he is indifferent and unjust. My heart bleeds for these poor souls. Comment Pop for Socratoad. You can't cure poverty by throwing money at it. You will cure it for a day, week, month, or even a year but then it will be back as strong as ever. Poverty of majority comes from lifestyle and mentality of minority. Most of us here are this minority. I am constantly amazed by the inventiveness and creativity of the poor of South Africa. There's even a 'miracle' cooking pot. It's a cardboard box filled with a 'beanbag' of styrofoam chips. A meal is brought to boiling point on a fire and then the pot is place inside the cardboard box and covered by the styrofoam bag. It acts like a slow-cooker, retaining the heat. This cuts down on the ever diminishing supply of firewood. There is also a 'washing machine' similar to the water transporter pictured above. In it are placed the clothes, the water and the soap and the children play with it by pulling it around. Every rotation washes the clothes. |
